Refereeing
Ah, one of korfball's most popular pastimes. Well without referees where would korfball (or any sport) be ?
Refereeing commitments are now shown on the Fixtures page alongside the relevant games that weekend to allow for easier planning / swapping etc
LDKA Referees
Crib-sheet
This sheet is aimed to just quickly remind LDKA referees of some of the
important pieces of information needed for refereeing an LDKA game.
- Indoor matches are 2 x 25 minutes with a five-minute half-time. No time-outs
are permitted.
- Outdoor matches are 2 x 20 minutes with a five-minute half-time. 2 time-outs
per team are permitted.
- It is the responsibility of the referee to ensure that the pitch is suitable
to play on, e.g. floor too slippery or the ground uneven.
- If a team is late then they are allowed ten minutes indoors and fifteen
minutes outdoors to turn up and start the match. If they fail to do so then the
match is awarded to the opposition 10-0. If they do turn up and the match starts
late, the match length should be shortened to finish as scheduled. Both halves
of the match should be of equal length.
- The referee should ensure match forms are completed and signed by both teams
captains at the end of the match. It is the responsibility of the home team
captain to send all appropriate match forms through to the LDKA.
- The referee should indicate on the match form any disciplinary actions taken
during the game, e.g. yellow or red cards, and ensure that the LDKA Indoor
League Secretary (indoorleague@ldka.org.uk) received notification of these
offences. As a reminder, yellow cards can be used to curb dissent or foul and
abusive language. A player cannot be given a straight red for verbal dissent
although they can get two yellows resulting in a red. If a card is issued, a
report should be sent to the relevant LDKA League Secretary, for forwarding to
the BKA Disciplinary Committee.
